Learn to write for children or adults

with an award-winning author…

Do you want to write fiction for children or adults but don't know where to start?  Or have you written some work and need some feedback?  Do you need a way into the literary world?

I can help.

I am the author of seventeen published books for children aged 5-14, as well as a novel for adults, a play and a former writer for BBC Radio 4 Extra.  I have a Master of Arts degree in Creative Writing with Distinction from Lancaster University.  I have won and been listed for various awards including the Georgina Hawtrey-Woore Award, the International Rubery Book Award and the Bath Children's Novel Award, and was a finalist at the Northern Cultural Education Awards for my author workshops.

I have been a writing tutor and mentor since 2013, including online for the Writers Bureau, and was Children's Writer in Residence at the online Stay at Home Literary Festival and a judge for the IGGY and Litro Young Writers Prize.  Two of my former students (Norah Blakedon and Liz Mackenzie) are now published authors.

I can work with you to read and appraise your manuscript, share first-hand knowledge of being published and help get your work ready for publication.  Non-fiction for children will also be considered.

Manuscript feedback via email - £200 for up to 10, 000 words, then £20 for every subsequent 1,000 words

Meetings on Zoom to discuss your work - £50 for up to one hour on Zoom
